‘So.’ They were sitting down in her living room, and holding warm cups of steaming tea. Maria was looking at Sam curiously, before he looked up, startled.

‘Sorry, I just- I was thinking. Anyway, we were wondering if you could help.’

Maria leaned back, and winced a little. Sam recognized the symptoms.

‘Poltergeist?’

‘A bitch of a poltergeist. Invited its friend over.’

Sam shook his head in sympathy. ‘Nothing worse than a socially active poltergeist.’

‘You’re telling me. You were saying?’

Sam put his cup down. ‘Well, we have a bit of a problem, and Dean said you were the one who could help. You see…’ He hesitated. ‘There is this thing. And we aren’t sure what it is. I mean, we’ve checked all the books, all the local legends and nothing fits.’

‘Okay. Well, I don’t know why you guys are asking me, because I’m hardly the history buff myself. You’re going to have to describe it for me.’

Sam smiled. ‘Oh, I can do better. I can show you.’

He brought out his camcorder from his pocket. ‘We were using the night vision, and on a hunch, I turned the camera on. It recorded this.’

Sam gave Maria the camcorder, and she could see them walking down a corridor of what seems to be an abandoned warehouse.

‘Where was this taken?’

‘Brooklyn. We’re investigating the deaths of a couple there.’

Maria rolled her eyes. ‘Of course you are.’ She continued playing the video. Dean was walking up ahead, his eyes alert and his gun at the ready. He turned to the camera.
‘Man, what are you doing? You’re not filming me, are you?’

‘Not filming you. Filming whatever is out there.’ Sam’s voice echoed through the place, even though it was only a whisper.

‘Sam, turn that camera o-’ Dean’s order was cut off by a yell as a dark shadow moved, taking Dean by surprise, and Dean hurtled against the wall.

‘DEAN!’ The frame bounced up and down as Sam ran towards his brother. ‘You okay?’

Dean groaned. ‘Son of a – Sammy, if you don’t turn that camera off, I will kill you and turn it off myself.’

The camera went off.

‘Did it come back?’ Maria started to rewind the tape.

‘Um, no.’ Sam shook his head. ‘It was like- ’

‘It just wanted to get away.’ Maria paused at the part where Dean was attacked, and played it in slow motion.

‘Was there sulphur? Any slime residue? Any symbols left behind?’ She asked, scrutinising the video.

‘Nothing. We tore the place apart. If it weren’t for the video evidence, even we couldn’t be sure whether it was real or not.’

‘Huh.’ Maria rewound the tape again and played it for a bit, before pausing it and giving it to Sam. ‘Look at this.’

Sam looked at the frame. ‘What? I don’t see anything.’

‘Oh, but you’re not looking.’ She took the camera back, and played it in slow motion.

‘Look at the black shape. Look at where it starts, and look at where it ends.’

Sam’s face brightened. ‘The shadows.’

‘That’s how it travels. I say it can only live in darkness.’

‘What, like the daeva?’

‘No, they leave behind bloodshed and symbols. No, I’m starting to think that the deaths of the couple might have been accidental.’

Sam looked at Maria, confused. ‘Why would you think that?’

‘It was frightened. If it wanted to kill, it would have tried to kill you. But it didn’t.’

Sam nodded. ‘It was afraid. It was trying to escape.’

‘And it was a clumsy attempt at an escape, so I think it might be a child.’

‘Wow.’ Sam grinned at Maria. ‘You are good.’

‘Never said I wasn’t good. I said I wasn’t a local history buff. And I don’t think that this is historical.’

‘What makes you say that?’ Sam asked.

Maria watched the bit in slow motion again.

‘Oh, dear.’

‘What?’

‘This can’t be good.’

‘Maria?’

Maria played the slow motion again. ‘You see the streak of white?’

‘Yeah, it’s my torch. I was trying to follow it.’

‘It isn’t just your torch light. There is a white face there as well. See?’

Sam nodded. ‘So, what is it?’

‘The impossible.’ Maria shook her head. ‘It’s a Slender Man.’

Sam paused, and then laughed. ‘How is that possible? Slender Men don’t exist. They have literally just been… created…’ His voice trailed off as it dawned on him. ‘It’s a Tulpa.’

‘Yep.’

‘What, so people are reading this stuff on the internet and willing them into existence?’

‘And it’s a global thing now; a lot of websites have articles on them, there are YouTube videos about them. People wanted the Slender Men to exist. This must have been a new-born one.’

Sam groaned and rubbed his hands in his face. ‘How do we kill it?’

‘Well, the legends differ from place to place. If you want Brooklyn’s version, you better ask around.’

Sam smiled ironically. ‘Like they are going to talk to a stranger about how to kill Slender Men.’

‘Well, I sense that you are a little more subtle than your brother, so I’m sure you can do it. One thing’s weird though. Slender Men attack children. Why would it go for two adults?’

‘Maybe, it wasn’t sure, because it was just born. Maybe, it just wanted to protect himself.’

‘Maybe.’

‘Hey, how did you meet Dean anyway?’

Maria laughed. ‘I found him in a house which was supposed to be an Arachnes nest. Nasty business, nearly cut his head off. But I knocked him out instead.’

‘You knocked Dean out? Oh, he’s never going to live this down.’ Sam grinned.

Maria grinned back. ‘He put up a fair fight, you know. I saw what he was carrying and realised that we must have been on the same team, so I pulled him out of the house and waited until he came to at his motel room. He wasn’t happy, but we teamed up anyway, and killed those spiders. We made a pretty good team.’

‘Dean has his moments.’ Sam stood up. ‘Well, thank you so much for your help.’

‘Hold on one second. AUNT MISSY, I’M GOING OUT.’

‘SURE, HONEY. BE HOME FOR DINER.’

‘Where are you going?’ Sam asked.

‘What, you thought I was going to let you take the Slender Man on your own? God, no. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.’

Maria ran upstairs, quickly changing her clothes into her usual gear (tank top, jeans, black boots and black leather jacket) while grabbing her weapons.

Sam was looking at the pictures in the hall when Maria came downstairs. ‘Hey, is that your Aunt?’

Maria looked. ‘Yeah. That was taken a couple years ago, when my parents died. Me and my sister moved to America then.’

‘I think I’ve met her before.’ He said thoughtfully, before adding, ‘I’m sorry about your parents.’

Maria smiled sadly. ‘Trust me, I am, too.’

She opened the front door, grabbing her motorcycle keys.

‘We can give you a ride if you want.’ Sam said.

‘No, thanks. I always take the motorcycle.’ Maria flashed Sam a smile, and left through the front door.

As she went to the side of her house, Sam went to the car, where Dean was sitting, nervously tapping the wheel. He saw Sam approach.

‘Damn it, Sam, you were in there for hours.’

Sam checked his watch. ‘It was only fifteen minutes.’

‘Felt like hours. So what did you find?’

Sam grinned wickedly. ‘That you were beaten up by a girl.’

Dean growled. ‘She caught me by surprise.’

‘Seems like you got a bit of rust there, son.’ Sam leaned back on his chair.

‘Shut up. Seriously, what did you find?’

‘We’re dealing with a Tulpa.’

‘What, another one? Man, we had those last month.’

‘I know, but this one is different. It’s the Slender Men. There are so many different websites, and so many different versions of events, that we can’t even be sure what we are up against. Gives them an advantage.’

‘Huh. So I take it bullets don’t work?’

‘Nope.’

Dean grumbled. ‘Hate it when bullets don’t work.’

hahaha, I loved this one Was really curious as to what could be the problem that leads them Maria, after our chat last time, and boom! Slender Man! Epic work there. I just love the idea - if there's anyone who can figure out how to beat slender men, it's the Winchesters You've really incorporated the episodes into it without overloading the story - interesting how you do it, I like it. I mean, I recognized the various sections that were inspired but that makes your story sound more genuine and related to the Supernatural universe. Now, though, you must write another part - I wanna know what happens when you pitch Dean and Sam against Slender Man - Brooklyn version Keep it up, sista!
